Steak and Gravy
INGREDIENTS
3 lbs steak *
You Choice
1-2 tbs steak seasoning
4 tbs oil
1 lrg white onion - diced
½ bell pepper - diced
5 garlic cloves – minced
2.5 cups beef broth
2 tsp Worcestershire
½ chicken bouillon
¼ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp mustard powder
¼ tsp dried sage
¼ tsp dried thyme
1 tsp black pepper
¼ tsp kitchen bouquet
½ cup dry white wine
4 tbs butter
1/3 cup flour
Optional
1 tsp hot sauce
DIRECTIONS
Add the following to a bowl
Beef broth, Worcestershire, bouillon cube, garlic powder, mustard powder, thyme, sage, pepper and kitchen bouquet
Whisk to combine
Lay out your steaks on large platter
Coat with oil on all sides
Season your steak on all side with your steak seasoning
Add oil to Dutch oven on med high
Sear your steaks for 2 minutes per side
Once sears set to the side
Add your butter and allow to melt
Add onion, bell pepper and garlic
Sauté for 2 minutes
Sprinkle flour over your onions
Cook for about 1 minute while tossing the onions
Add your broth mixture and wine to your onions
Bring to a boil
Add steaks and submerge in the gravy
Lower to a simmer and cover
Simmer for 2-3 hrs until steak is fork tender
Serve over rice of mashed potatoes
