Salisbury Steak
Ingredients
Steaks:
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
1 Tbs ketchup
2 Tsp dry mustard
2 Tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cube beef bouillon, crumbled (or powdered beef base)
Salt and pepper
1 Tbs butter
1 Tbs olive oil
Gravy:
1 whole onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 8oz container of Mushrooms
4 cups beef broth
2 Tbs ketchup
2 Tsp Kitchen Bouquet
1 Tbs Worcestershire
2 Tsp cornstarch
Salt and Pepper
Directions
For the meat mixture:
Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs
Ketchup, dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce
Bouillon and some salt and pepper.
Knead until all combined.
Form into 4 to 6 oval patties
Fry the patties in a skillet
With the butter and oil over medium-high
3-4 mins per side
Remove from skillet and set to the side
For the gravy:
Reduce the heat to medium
Add in the sliced onions and mushrooms
Stir and cook until golden brown and soft
Can add some beef stock if needed
Add the beef stock, ketchup
Seasoning sauce and Worcestershire
Stir to combine
Combine the cornstarch with a little beef broth
Mix till smooth
Add to the sauce
Stir and cook to reduce on med uncovered
Optional: 1 pack of Brown Gravy Mix
Add salt and pepper and more broth if needed
Then return the patties to the gravy
Spoon the gravy over the top and
Let them simmer for 20 min
Server w/ mashed potatoes
